Curriculum: In addition to core coursework, first and second year students can take elective seminars in subjects such as global health, medical Spanish, and bioethics. During this time, they also participate in LEAPP (Longitudinal Experience to Appreciate the Patient’s Perspective), a program in which students are paired with chronically ill patients for 18 months to develop clinical skills and learn first-hand about family and quality-of-life issues.

Clinical Training: Core rotations are completed during third year at five major teaching hospitals that are within walking distance of the school. Students split their time between in-patient and ambulatory patient care settings. Fourth year schedules are flexible, giving students time to finish elective rotations, advanced seminars, and research.

Student Support: Incoming students are paired with an Advisory Dean who will meet with them once per semester to discuss academic and personal progress. The Career Counseling Program introduces first year students to various specialties through seminars and open houses. Third year students are assigned a faculty Career Counselor who specializes in their field of interest and helps them prepare for the residency application process and life beyond medical school.
