Clinical Training: Third year students complete six required 2-month clerkships at a variety of teaching sites in the San Francisco Bay Area. They may choose between the Traditional Program, which offers one clerkship at a time, or a Structured Program, which offers an integrated, longitudinal experience at one of several hospitals. All students will go through a 12 month Longitudinal Clinical Experience in which they develop a long-term relationship with physician mentors and a specific patient population. Fourth year students have the flexibility to take clinical electives, do research, or work abroad.

Student Support: During the first year, small group sessions help students navigate their way through the UCSF medical school experience. Career advisors help students with specialty selection and the residency application process.
