A flood of Secondaries, Good sign or neutral?

Postby artloversplus » Fri Jul 11, 2014 11:45 pm

My Daughter submitted to 27 schools from AMCAS. One month after her submission she got flood of secondaries. With GPA 3.5 and MCAT 33 she got some better schools sending her secondaries including Tufts, Tulane, GWU, Emory :P Georgetown and UCD. I am not sure if those schools send out secondaries automatically. We did expect Rush and Commonwealth as target though.

I don't guarantee that it is true, but I don't think that any of the schools send secondary applications to ALL applicants. It means that she passed the "computer test" that has eliminated most of the applications due to certain prerequisite numbers / factors being too low.

So then the real evaluation begins in which human reviewers select whom to interview based on the secondary applications. It gets more competitive and receiving the secondary is not certainty of getting an interview. But of course it's best to have as many options as possible, so you should be pleased with the good results so far

What are the scores the "comupter test" looking for?
