Canadian RPN trying to work in USA

Postby jacks1234 » Wed Jun 22, 2011 8:03 am

I am a Canadian RPN trying to get a license in Texas. I have my green card and had a CES(course evaluation service) done by CGFNS and sent to the Texas board of nursing. They have informed me that certain courses required in the US weren't a part of my curriculum in Canada. No one seems to be able to tell me how to get these missing courses. The colleges I have spoken with will only allow me to enroll for the entire LVN program as opposed to enrolling in just the classes I need to take the NCLEX. Has anyone been through this that can help? Thanks! :)

Hello,
There are many colleges in USA for NCLEX.You can join any of them. Here I suggested name of some colleges , you can do NCLEX from these colleges.
1.Stanbridge college
website Link : http://www4.stanbridge.edu/
2.Rosemead College

You can likely find those courses offered online via non-traditional colleges like Kaplan.

I am a Registered Practical Nurse in Canada but cgfns.org is telling me that I need a couple of courses to equal the LPN in the USA ex. working with children and psych/mental health along with clinical hours. This is in the RN program not RPN so I am very confused on how to deal with this.

Thanks
