The Bureau of Labor Statistics has a couple of great resources for this question. One of them (
http://www.bls.gov/oes/2011/may/oes291111.htm) gives a good breakdown as a national average and was conducted in 2011. The other (
http://stats.bls.gov/oes/current/oes_11500.htm) is broken down by state and metropolitan or non-metropolitan area. You may be lucky enough to find the exact area you want to work in. If you don't, try to find an area that's close and similar in terms of city size and type (rural, urban, etc...)
One thing the sites don't factor in; however, are a breakdown by specialty and by experience. As you post your salary inquiry, you may also mention a specialty you are looking for as well as the fact that you'd be a newbie. If you're not sure what specialty area you want to go into, then that's another great topic to start perusing on forums.
