Gastroenterology Physician Jobs Information – Salaries

Gastroenterology salary results are based on surveys of GI physicians in different regions over the course of a year.
GI salaries appear to have grown more consistently over the last 10 years than that of other medical specialties, in part due to (relatively) consistent reimbursement potential of colonoscopies and more advanced interventional options. The high end of the earnings potential, in particular, has moved significantly in the last decade.
Because many physician employers are moving towards RVU-based reimbursement schemes, and GI procedures generate typically higher RVUs than many other medicine (rather than surgery) based procedures, the future for gastroenterology salaries is anticipated to stay favorable.
The average physician salary for an internal medicine physician (see internal medicine salary) is a useful benchmark in this regard.
