Many factors go into an acceptance decision by medical schools, among them your MCAT score, GPA, and state of residence. Private medical schools like Stanford, Harvard or the University of Chicago medical school put much less emphasis on state of residence. Good news for many applicants: In order to offset an anticipated physician shortage, medical schools are increasing enrollments.
