banning of user

I reluctantly banned a user (mdtodc) today. Many users, including a moderator or two, had complained about his/her posts.

While posts with different opinions are welcome, there ended up being 40+ posts that said basically the same thing, and that distracted and frustrated people trying to get answers to their questions.

The user was banned not for his/her opinions, but because his/her continued repetitive comments were making the forum hard to use. In fact, many of mdtodc's posts are still on the forum, and the opinion has been presented with enough frequency that anyone on the forum can easily find his/her point.

Other users that abuse the forum for link building or product promotion are regularly banned without comment.
