Does having a DO limit you from certain options? For example, I want to work in psychiatry, would going for the DO hurt? How does DO/MD relate to what you can specialize in?

DO can do the same things as MDs. Depending on the program you applying to for residency, you might need to take the USMLE or your COMLEX will be just fine for a dual approved programs.

to aswer your question, you should be able to do whatever you want to do.

good luck

One thing you should know is that psychiatry never gets enough applicants. Generally, the number of places in the specialty never get filled. So go to whatever med school you can and you'll be able to get a residency in psychiatric medicine somewhere.
