MUA Info

Postby paracop18 » Wed Sep 06, 2006 8:27 am

Anyone know anything about MUA. I am told it is a sister school to SABA.

Just wondering; I have applied to another school and I am awaiting word.

Anyone know what kind of reputation MUA has? Preparing students for the USMLE (1), Clinical placements, Residencies? I don't see a lot of forum discussion on them.

Any help appreciated...

Yes MUA Nevis
(MUA Belize is not connected different owners and connected the St. Chris of England, not good)
MUA Nevis is a good school, they have NY approval for clinicals (without this you cannot do clinicals in NY, for instance my school will be reviewed by NY so until then no clinicals during yrs 3 and 4 but we have residents in NY)

Con: No California approval, FMG ( true for all Caribbean schools), May have limited clinical sites ( most of these schools limit where you can do clinicals, what state/ city) (On the clinicals would like to add there are a few schools, mine one of them, who will let you set up clinicals anywhere you can get info on) No fedral aid.

Pro: Good reputation, I have heard about few problems on Value MD ( a carribean school site that has a forum just for the school) so that is a good sign. Currents students seem happy.

Sum up in my opinion, based on what I know I would recommend MUA Nevis, It passes all the right checks like Charter, WHO, ECMFG, IMED and graduates.
From AMCAS:AMCAS GPAs are almost always different from those calculated by the schools you have attended. Therefore, AMCAS does not in any way attempt to compare our calculations with those appearing on your official transcripts.

Thanks Old Pro. Just wondering about that school; although I am still awaiting word from St James. I had my phone interview about 8 days ago. How long does it usually take to hear something?
