august mcat harder than april mcat?

Postby ggangtong81 » Tue Jan 10, 2006 9:11 pm

is it true that august mcat is harder than april mcat? someone suggested that it is the case. but i think it's because for august, people have more time to study during the summer, so that there is minimal curve on the test. can anybody verify this?

Look at it this way, all the mcat scores are scaled based on percentiles so you're basically competing against everyone else taking the test. In april, everyone probably is taking near a full load of classes while studying for the mcat versus august when most people spent all summer preparing and not much else. Basically, people are going to do better in august than april, but you're still being compared only to the people you're taking the test with, april or august.

from my experience april is definitely easy. Log on to AAMC and look at the scales to check it yourself.
