Diabetes Crisis in Haiti

Postby GraciaHughes » Fri Dec 02, 2011 1:59 pm

Hi everyone,

I saw in the e-commerce site where I bought my stethoscope that they are helping in the diabetes crisis in Haiti. Anyone else know other methods to help with this cause? :)

I think there has been a general crisis in the health-care system in Haiti. As it pertains to diabetes specifically, one issue is the lack of supplies:

"When I tried to help three kids with diabetes, there was not even a glucose meter to be found in the hospital. All this makes it near to impossible to help people."

So to help out, the most obvious way would be to donate diabetes testing supplies, insulin, and other paraphernalia. We have lots of those things cheaply available in the USA so it would hardly be difficult to spare some for the people in Haiti

I think people could just donate blood glucose meter without strips and government should compensate strips. That would make people contribute more and to see the point of donating as this won't be used up in several months.
