say if an osteopathic medical student wanted to do plastic surgery or neurosurgery or something along those lines, are there just as many of those residences available for osteopathic students as allopathic students?

also, I read in a previous post that MD residences accepts DO students. how common is this? because from the perspective of the MD residency directors, why wouldn't they give preference for MD students?

I would say in Surgery DO's are accepted at a reasonable rate but MD get the better shot.

DO's have more residencies over all if you count the MD residencies

for a feel on this I would say 75% of MD residencies will accept DO's equally to MD and the rest MD preferred these days.
