DO School Chances

Postby Indianblend » Sat May 02, 2009 5:37 pm

I am a junior majoring in Biochemistry and molecular Biophysics. My GPA is 3.22 and have 27O in MCAT. I will have GPA of 3.4 by the time I graduate. I have a shadowing and volunteering experience. I have a distinct background but not a minority in health profession. Should I wait this year out and apply after I graduate(in 2010) with a little higher GPA? and if I do that, that year I can do Post Bac program. Does that help get into DO school even when grades aren't decided at the time of application? I have taken major science classes like biochem, physical chem, statistics, physio etc. Let me know of your opinions. Thanks

3.2 GPA is a bit lower than the average 3.4 for DO school but your MCAT is ok. You will be judge based on ur present GPA not what u think u will graduate with.

I'll still apply. if you don't get in, then u reapply, hopefully u will have better GPA and maybe retake MCAT. If u don still get, then postbac.

hope it helps
