Actually at my school any freshman or sophomore class can be retaken and the new grade REPLACES the old grade in the gpa, not an average so it is possible

Do the classes you took first still remain anywhere on your transcript? If they're on the transcript, but they're not calculated into your institution's GPA, they will STILL be calculated by AMCAS. So you better make sure such retaken classes are COMPLETELY removed from any transcript you send to AMCAS.

Many school's have similar grade forgiveness plans, and students take them thinking that it will correct their GPA problem. The problem is that such plans will not include the first class in the GPA but they also usually do not remove the first instance of a taken class from the transcript. AMCAS does not take your institutional GPA but calculates it themselves. So as long as its on a transcript, AMCAS will calculate it.

Institution GPA != AMCAS GPA

As long as there is ANY indication on the transcript that the class was retaken, AMCAS will want a transcript that includes both grades. Some schools have different transcripts for different purposes.

April 2006 MCAT scores okay for Fall '09 application?

Postby gpoo » Sat May 10, 2008 12:49 am

What is the oldest MCAT score schools will take if I am planning on applying to matriculate in the Fall of 2009?

I took the April 2006 MCAT (32R, 9V, 11B, 12P) and honestly am fine with those scores.

I've just been working these past few years and now ready to tackle on applying to medschool. Will having "old" April 2006 scores (though scores are "generally" good for "3 years" be acceptable?
