GMAT Preparation

Whether your looking to get into an Executive MBA program, an on-line MBA program, or an academic top MBA program (e.g. University of Chicago Graduate School of Business), GMAT preparation is a must. We recommend two steps in GMAT test prep.

First, find out what score you need to get into your preferred MBA programs. The GMAT scores and GPA comparison tool gives you an idea of how competitive your GMAT scores and GPA would be at different schools.

The second step is choosing the right GMAT preparation program. Here's a run down of GMAT test prep options:

Classroom course - this is the GMAT course that spawned a thousand imitations. It is still the gold-standard in the industry. Instructors have experienced the GMAT, and have performed very well on the test. This course can get you up to speed.

Online course - this online GMAT course is designed to let you direct your own studying from your own computer. Plan for at least a month of studying with this course.

GMAT crash course - intensive, online, short-term (less than one month), and inexpensive, this course provides targeted learning to even out your skills and knowledge base.

Free GMAT practice test - to get a handle on how you might perform on the GMAT if you took it now, try this free GMAT practict test.

Private GMAT Tutoring - Tutoring is expensive - but the cost-benefit ratio is greatest for tutoring. if you can afford this route, it is by far the most effective. You will get personalized tutoring from a first-rate GMAT instructor.

Why we recommend Kaplan test prep products:

Kaplan has been the industry leader in test prep for decades now. It has produced the largest question database of any company, and has the most experience at getting students ready for the GMAT, as well as a host of other tests.

It's been estimated that over 80% of students who plan to enter graduate or professional school will take a test-prep course. Given how challenging it can be to get into a top MBA program, efficient GMAT test-preparation is a huge boost to your chances of getting in. The best courses, like the Kaplan courses, take test preparation to the next level - teaching both strategies and test-taking skills to ace the exam.

Kaplan has recently made a subtle, but important, change. They are no longer just a "test prep" company, but they help you plan your entire Business School / MBA program admissions process. This means they've got their eye on the final outcome - acceptance in the top MBA program of your choice - not just one step in the process.

Other options

Online MBA Program - There are also a variety of online MBA programs that may or may not require GMAT. If you're concerned about your GMAT performance, these might be an option for you to consider.
